Review
"I absolutely LOVE Mary Ellen's Essentials of Business Communication textbook and how it relates to student learning. (Please excuse the gushiness!) The text is easy to use, has clear learning objectives, offers correlated materials, provides excellent PowerPoint applications, includes easy-to-use unit exams, and details great cases."
"The online resources that accompany Essentials of Business Communication are excellent. The resources, especially the language trainer, give the students immediate feedback. As we all know, immediate feedback is crucial in the learning process. Also, as a teacher, it frees my time to devote to assisting students on other things."

Text Book - Missing Access code
By MC
This is a text book and the semester has not yet started so as far as the material of the book, I'm not sure. It arrived in a reasonable time frame, however the description stated it would come with the access code needed for the website. Unfortunately the access code that came with the book, when I tried to register, was already used and invalid. I contacted Amazon and they issued a 30% refund which was just enough for me to buy the access elsewhere.

Kindle Version NOT worth it FOR STUDENTS
By Jacob DeBenedetto
The actual content is great and informative. The downside is the missing page numbers for my Kindle Touch. As I'm writing this, my grade is dwindling because I cannot locate "page 144-147" to work on my assignment. I wish I could get a refund, but all I'll be getting is a failing grade for $140 worth of digital disappointment.
I've spent many hours of research to find if this is common for the Kindle Touch. To my dismay, there is absolutely no solution if the book does not include the actual page numbers. Even the Kindle App for PC and Android won't interpret the page number. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about here's a brief description:
Kindle Touches use 'location' not 'page numbers'. If you have font size 14 and small margins, your total location count may be 20,000+. If you shrink the font size, the total location count might be 15,000+. It adjusts itself according to the digital format; not paper-back page numbers.
I understand most books support page numbers, but THIS does not. For the students out there, just pay the extra cash to get the paper-back copy or page number supported digital copy online somewhere else.
I am very unhappy about this purchase and wish digital refunds were available. I am willing to change my review if given a chance to buy a non-digital copy.

Run away, don't look back
By aubergine
I can't imagine many people would be looking at this book unless it's a required text for a class. If for some reason you are considering reading it voluntarily, I beg of you, get out of here while there's still time. Do not buy. If it's required reading for you, then you have my deepest sympathies, friend.
Most importantly: If you are a course instructor selecting a textbook for your course, then for the love of god please choose anything other than this.
This book is a gigantic, unwitting parody of itself. In 6 years of college, I have never had a worse textbook. Really, truly, never. It's full of trite, facile information (Communication skills are important! Not all cultures are the same! When somebody doesn't understand you, you should try to figure out what went wrong!) tarted up to seem vital with cliched business speak of the sort that was ubiquitous in 90's movies and TV shows portraying lifeless, punishing corporate environments. Every third sentence seems to start with "In today's changing workplace..." Words like "exciting" get tossed around with unfortunate frequency in contexts where they could hardly be less accurate. Truly awful stuff. The kind of writing that threatens to suck your soul out through your nose and leave you loathing the world and everybody in it. And it's condescending, to boot. A reasonably intelligent 3rd-grader would have no trouble either with the text itself or with the ham-fisted concepts it deals in. Hell, a reasonably intelligent 3rd-grader would probably feel like THEY were being talked down to. And as if all this weren't enough, the websites associated with this text are a hot mess. They have much the same organizational logic as a garbage can (just throw stuff wherever, leave it where it lands). I would give this disaster 0 stars if that were an option, but sadly, it is not.
